Editor’s Note: Although I’m publishing this in June 2023, this journal entry has not been edited since I wrote it on September 9 (right after the Day 3 exam). Also check out my Day 1 and Day 2 writeups from earlier.
Some final thoughts about Surpass:
- The add and delete row shortcuts (Alt+I+R and Alt+E+D) didn’t work 🥲
- The Ctrl+Shift+; shortcut to print the current time didn’t work 🥲
- Thankfully using the arrow keys to navigate to different cells when typing formulas did work, even though the CPA document said it wouldn’t
- No Ctrl+F in Knotia
- I kept hitting the Pg Up and Pg Down buttons because they were on either side of the up arrow key. So annoying.
Now onto some thoughts about the cases:
- We had a 90-minutes case followed by two 75-minute cases. I was most nervous about showing breadth in finance so I devoted some extra attention to the finance AO’s, and sacrificed a bit in my MA and assurance AO’s, but overall I still managed to put in a decent try for all AO’s.
- Divisional allocation was the only AO I failed to complete and wrap up in a nice way. I didn’t have enough to re-allocate Tamara and Gary’s wages. I came back at the very end of the exam and BSed a conclusion based on what I thought the answer would be (Farm Suppliers division isn’t performing as poorly as Tamara thinks).
And that’s it for my Day 3 debrief. Sorry. No thoughts, brain empty. I wanted to write a detailed summary like I did for Day 2, but just couldn’t bring myself to do it. I am DONE WRITING THE FUCKING CFE AND CHECKED OUT FOR THE REST OF SUMMER. GOODBYE!
