A Busy Day

I was feeling pretty burnt out by the end of today. I had three classes today: ACC 680, ACC 650, and ACC 611, since I had to make up for the sessions I missed on Monday and Tuesday. It’s a big change going from a full year of remote learning and WFH to three in-person classes back to back.

Standards I Read Today

  • It took me about 2 hours to get through IAS 16 and ASPE 3061. I like to think I’m getting a bit more efficient at reading these, or maybe it’s just because PPE is a much easier concept than financial instruments or revenue…
  • I think I’ve found the shortest standard ever. If you ever get assigned ASPE 3850, rejoice because it is literally 1 page long, and contains 4 paragraphs. I read it after the corresponding IFRS standard (IAS 23), which was a more regular-length document (but still on the short side).
  • I struggled to get through the Intangible Assets readings. I think it’s because it was the end of the night and my brain was pretty tired from the earlier readings. I managed to finish all of IAS 38, but didn’t finish the last bit of ASPE 3064 because I just couldn’t force myself to understand the words anymore.
  • Ended off the night with reading SIC 32. It was about capitalizing website development costs… which is slightly interesting and relevant to my own life I guess since I like making websites… but best of all it was short (only 4 pages).

Overall Feelings

Extremely frustrated with RemNote (my note-taking tool) today. The database search has gotten even more broken after the most recent update, which was ironically meant to improve the search function. I even upgraded to Pro (shoutout to the three people who signed up with my referral code and got us both three months of Pro for free) to access their priority support, and all I got back was this lame message: “Thanks for reaching out. We’re looking into this issue right now and will keep you updated.”

I have to be patient with them, because RemNote overall has been such a huge help throughout my undergrad and really transformed my studying and note-taking. But damn they’re really failing me at this critical time!
